Gen 3 just started missing-1MZ-FE

My 1996 (just started missing after I thew it in reverse(just after starting). Runs rough, engine light comes on (flashes while running at first). I checked the battery and other obvious sensors, wires, vac lines etc...but nothing. After clearing error codes (by removing battery cable and cleaning) started fine, ran fine. After a short trip and turning off ignition, I found out my problem was back. I put a OBD tester on it and it shows no error codes, yet still runs rough.
Anyone have suggestions as where to start...electrical or fuel injec?

Kind of sounds like a faulty coil pack. But on the 96 1mz if that happens then you loose two cylinders right?

no i beleieve its only the 1mz with the dual throttle bodies that have waste spark, my 95 1mz has individual coil packs, i think they started on 96 avalons and 97 camrys but i could be wrong??
