2000 Camry Clutch Replacement

I am attempting to replace the clutch in my 2000 Camry 4cyl. I have removed all items to gain access and am know working on a disconnect of the drive axle. The Haynes manual seems a bit to general for some of the operations and I am hoping someone might confirm a few things for me.
1.) Do I need to remove only the driver side drive axle, and then just disconnect the passenger side.
2.) To remove the driver side drive axle remove the drive axle nut, remove control arm nuts and separate. Remove drive axle from the hub and then pull the drive axle from the trans-axle. Is there a clip holding the drive axle into the trans-axle.
3.) Is there a clip holding the passenger side drive axle into the transaxle.
4.) It does not appear to be necessary to remove the exhaust line, although one house bolt may be difficult to take out.
Any answers to these questions and further advice....... greatly appreciated.
I have worked on several conventional rear drive clutchs but this is my first FWD trans-axle.
Thanks
Craig

I can help with #3 and the answer is no. I had to replace the seal where the axel goes into the trans a few months ago and the axel slid right out after removing the items you mention. Mine is a '99 but I'd guess they are about the same.

Thanks,,,,,,, last night I broke the drive axle nuts and dropped the control arm.....and can see that the drive axle will slide right out once I disconnect the strap around the boot......tonight I will remove it, unbolt the trans-axle from the engine mount and "hopefully" drop the unit to gain access to the clutch.
I have never been a big fan of front wheel drive and I live where winter is tough.......and this surgery re-confirms one of the reasons why.........
