started overheating last week and I noticed the fan wasnt working.
Myself and a buddy tried to attack it today.
Jumped op1 and e1 and the fan didnt turn on.
I loosened the hydraulic lines at the fan motor and revved the motor. the hydraulic fluid would only trickle.
We took off the fan/motor and opened it up. It looked fine and moved easily with our fingers.
Then we pulled the plug to the solenoid at the ps pump and tried to give it direct current with the car on and still no fan action.
turned ac on. Still no fan movement
I hear that the hydraulic fans in this model were plagued with problems.
for the record the power steering itself works fine
My questions are these:
1. What does the failure to jump suggest
2. Have the ecu and solenoid been known to go bad.
3. Can I put an electric fan on instead and be done with it. thanks for your help camry gurus
