Question Front Rotor Removal

I need to replace the front brakes on my 2000 Camry this weekend.

I noticed that there is a large Nut that appears to be holding the rotor to the Hub Assembly.
Does this big Nut need to come off to remove the rotor? And if so, what size socket do I need to go out an purchase

Thanks,

No, thats the wheel hub bearing nut. All you need to remove the rotor is to remove the caliper and the two bolts holding on the caliper carrier.

Rotor is probably rusted to the hub, making it difficult to remove, but don't be fooled, it is not held on by that nut. I usually pick up a big sledge and knock it off in one hit, but I'm a little strange and like swinging large hammers for no reason.

yeah ... the general rule is to stay away from big nuts because they are usually attached to important things

very true, when I first got my car I thought I had to remove that to get the wheel off, haha! I ended up paying like $10 for that size socket and turned out I didnt even need it.

hey mate,

if you are not 100% sure how to 'take off' and 'put on' the rotor PLEASE do not do it yourself! Take it to a shop and let the pro do it....

Be safe ay! and goodluck.
