HELLO !
Calibrating an ECU must be just the same as updating any Micro-Processor based computing Device.
If the DC Power Source falls below the minimum , you can corrupt the data transfer and consequently lose the computer's functions . In PC maintenance we are cautioned to not start or stop the supply voltage or conduct any other function while BIOS updates are being made as ths will render the PC Computer unusable .
Maybe the situation is the same for your ECU?
We all know that batteries are not usually reliably consistent power sources . I can see the need for Aux. Power or sometjing to make sure the base Voltage doesn't fall below 11 Volts . After all any DATA Transfer, Automotive or Personal Computers still rely on a voltage shift between Zero and the upper supply Voltage to make a digital "1"
pr "0" . This is the basis for all data transfers 1's and 0's ... off and on ... Even the most Powerful CRAY Computer still relies on 1's and 0's to transfer data .
