well, what i thought was a header leak looks to be a flex tube off the y-pipe leak. is this common? now im not sure if that was the original leak or if i did that trying to take the bolts off. im going to be kicking myself if it truely was the header leaking the whole time. from what i can see though, i cant see any leaks (dark spots) on the block.

thoughts?

Yup Common problem i replaced the y-pipe.

oh-my-god. i cant believe i didnt see that before. I didnt see it till i took the whole engine apart and got the shop light under the car. i guess its not a total loss though because i had to replace the valve cover gaskets anyways

gave me an excuse. at least i can return this stupid 35 dollar gasket now

where did you get a new pipe? can i change just the flex part? i have it soaking with wd40 right now.

ok i got the whole thing off, it looks like its all one piece though. where do i get one of these things at? I Called the local parts store and they dont even have a part number for it. muffler shop or <gasp> toyota? any idea on cost?
