3rd Generation Rear Main Seal

After spending $400 to do my Valve Cover Gasket, Dist O-Ring seal, Oil Pan gasket, turns out that my Rear Main Seal was leaking oil also. My friend mechanic says, it is a $700 job, transmission has to come down....

I just did the above (not main seal) 2 years ago, but used aftermarket seals...this time we used Toyota OEM.

So, tough sheet, I will have to bear the oil leak from the Rear Main Seal.

Has anyone done it and how much did it cost you? What are the pitfalls, or stuff to watch out for to get it done?

When your rear main seal gets real bad, you'll be losing up to a quart every 5 - 10 minutes while the motor is on. Trust me, I learned that the hard way.

850 for the whole job, including the seals and gaskets you already mentioned.

About same quote ($870 CND) was given to me by dillership. It is not leaking badly yet, so I'm using some "stop leak" for now.
