Thinking of putting some 20" on the camry which offset?
First off I call myself using the search and came up with nothing. I'm looking at a set of 20" for my 1996 camry. The wheels come 20x8.5 with two different offsets: 35 and 45. Which one would I need to fit correctly? Side note, I do have the car lowered with intrax springs. I also don't care if I have to roll the fenders.
I also forgot to mention that no matter what offset and wheel width that I end up getting I will be running a 225/30/20 tire. So the sides are the only thing that I might scrub on. The 20 tire is the same height as my 215/40/18 now.
I personally would do 20's I know they look nice but the riding experience will feel like shit it will make it soo stiff and also remm. real easy to break the rim. SO no potholes.. I live in DC area and streets always bad so I wouldnt do all that.
I don't drive my car that much 20's with rubber bands don't matter to me. But still I would like to know how this can be done with an 8.5" width and either a 35 or 45 offset. Someone said that it can be done, well how? Or should I just try to find a 20 in 7.5" or 8" width? All help is appreciated.
with that being said, I have 6.5" rims with a 205 tire and 50mm offset, and need 3mm spacers int he rear. I;m putting on 7" wide with a 45mm (or 38mm offset, I forgot), and the same tires, and there is only about 5mm between the tire and strut.

5 Lug Corolla WHAT?
since ur car is lowered u might have rubbing issues in both the front and back with an 8.5. ud need to space the hell out of them and then worry about them hanging out of the fender. check the offset thread if u havnt already, i know there are a few people there with 20"s. http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/t100252.html
I call myself looking through the offset post but I never came across someone with all of the info I need to do this.
As far as the "Hideous and Retarded" comments, I love how these comments come from people who's car looks like every other camry on the road. I would agree that if my car wasn't lowered it would look "hideous or retarded" all jacked up, but that's not the case. I will be tucking the rear tire and the front will be very close. My car will be three-four inches off the ground. To each their own, it's not your cup of tea. I posted a question about offsets and of course you get somebody to put their two cents in. This wasn't a poll to see if you like the idea or not, I was just asking for some help. This is why I don't like to post on this site. And besides let me ask you this why did you buy a camry in the first place? I bought mine first of all to be different. Just about everybody has a honda. Second I wanted to show what could be done with a camry in the show scene. With that being said, I do what I do for show, not to drive.
its an open forum. thoes kinda comments are gonna happen, learn to deal with them and ignore them if they get u frustrated.
i work with a guy who has a gen3 with 20s and although i dont like the ride or the look(mostly cuz the wheels are ugly IMO), his fit. his car isnt lowered but i think hes runnin an 8" wheel with a 34mm offset. they do rub the top of the fender a little when he takes turns hard or cranks the wheel all the way but he, at least says, that he doesnt have any big issues.
Thank god Adam said it.
bondoman people can't insult you. That's rude. However, they can tell you when they don't agree with something, or when they think your taste sucks.
20" rims on the Camry platform look stupid. 19" & above just don't work. Never have & never will. I've never seen 20: anything, in 5 years I might add, that looked good. The best I can say is 2 ES 300/330's in all this time have done 20's, and they weren't stupid looking. Mind you they weren't good looking... They just weren't bad.
You're in the wrong car (period) if you want big wheels. I seriously doubt anyone is going to go along with it, becuase we've all seen it before too many times. This isn't the inner city ghetto. If you want dubs, buy a Mailbu or something. You don't put 20's on a Camry, just like you don't put 18s on a volkswagon karma ghia.
Even if you spaced, rolled, went with real coilovers, and staggered it to fit. We've all seen it before still wasn't pretty. Not to mention. Why all the work for the cheap ebay rims?
I digress. You're really not going to find much support for the 20's. Not just here, but anywhere for this platform.
