4th Generation Re: Air Intake

I have a v6 Camry that I wanted to put a regular air intake system on, but all the ones I have found show only two outlets. For example:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/99-00...mZ290100269886

But my intake has three hoses in it. Can anyone tell me if this is strange, maybe the third hose doesn't need to be plugged in?

there are some items on eBay that have 2 tube inlets. The one i bought from eBay has 2.

You don't have to get the one with 2 tube inlets, If that's the case, you need to buy a small filter (i don't know what's the proper name for it, they use it for motorcycle).

anyway goodluck!

Yeah, you can buy the one with only two nipples, but you'll should add an extra one to get the most out of it. You should have an outlet on each side of the egr valve (I believe that what is supposed to go in the larger space) and one on the opposite side.

I had one on for a few weeks, but I think it led to my o2 sensor going bad.

There are two going into the ctual box and one to the piping.
Also, someone posted that if you cut the stock box, it will make the same noise; Is that true? I know that the intake won't make much of a horsepower diff, but I love the growl.

in theory, if you cut the box ... it should increase flow & noise ... i dont think it will give you quite the same result tho

Okay, but what about the 3rd hose? I heard it might be for the o2 sensor?

I believe the O2 sensors are only in the exhaust, two before the cat (1 in a 4cyl), and one after the cat.

And the sensor on the intake tube is the air (temp?) sensor.
