wheel painting?

ok so im in the process of picking out a set of wheels. however, im cheap and really like the style of the wheels i have now, there jsut not big enough for me. ive made these crappy american racing wheels last almost 6 years in great condition and im considering getting some 17's of the same thing. i also would like to get black or gunmetal, but of course the Estrellas only come in a clear coated, polished finish. that being said, my question is can i paint them to get the finish i want? ive seen paints specificly for wheels but im not sure if there durrable or if i can even apply them to a clearcoat. thanks for any suggestions or opinions.

what size wheels do you have now? and i actually <3 American Racing wheels even tho they can be cheap

i like the selection Sears has

im sure you can paint them to get the finish you want - they make paints for almost all materials these days ... its just a matter of getting a good even coat - im sure someone on the forums here has tried it before

best of luck!

because of the drop alot of people think i have 17's, i just want somthing wider and with less side wall, but 18s are to far in the other direction. im prolly gonn aget these from wheelsforless.com. ive ordered 3 complete sets from them between my 2 cars and they are awsome, not to mention i can get the estrellas with free shipping, 17x7.5 for 109 a piece, pretty good deal.

thats another question, i dont like the wheel peel that u get with a 215 on a 7.5"(bit of a quirk with me), with a 40mm offset, will i need spacers to do a 225

yes you can paint the rims using normal spray paint.

My brother and several of his mates have done them before.

If you going to do it properly it will take about half a day. before you paint the rims, make sure you prime it first, then put several coating, last not least several layers of clear coating

all the best and show us once they're done

no 18s for 2 reasons...pot holes and tire price. ive had to many friends opt for the 18 inch and almost all of them have suffered at the hands of bad DC and Balimore roads. though 18s would look better.
