4th Generation shift kits

so toay i went to a trans shop to see what they could do performance wise. they have shift kits. but the problem is they dont have performance shift kits just correction shift kits. what is a correction shify kit. also he said he wont put it in because my car has 150k miles on my car. he wants ruffly about 400 for shift kit and install. he said if i got my tranny rebuilt he would do it. he could rebuild it for me but it would cost me 2500. i always thought putting a shift kit is better for your tranny. it makes it last longer. i could be wrong. so im trying to decide on either shift kit or zex 125 shot. what should i get?

Do you want to go fast or waste money? Exactly, get the ZEX. If you want an upgrade for your tranny, contact IPT transmissions.

never dealt with FWD shift kits, but they do improve shifts (so in turn you'll go faster easier) and sometimes they can improve the life of your trans...

however, I don't know what you've done to your car so far, but I'd say get some mods in before you worry about that...

in theory they improve tranny life but ill tell u that ive seen people put on a shift kit and, especially on an old tranny, they had to do a full rebuild a few months later. now none of these were FWD, all older domestics but the principal is the same. i think for the 2500 ud spend rebuilding ur tranny and installing a shift kit u could get a manual swapped in for less and be faster then the A/T with the shift kit, and it would be more fun to drive

I did a level 10 shift kit upgrade on my previous Maxima. (FWD AT) similar to the gen4 Camry.

Truth be told...it was an absolute waste of money.

At the time the Maxima had the following upgrades by 90K:
Cold Air intake Blitz SUS filter
Front Ypipe downpipe
Unorthadox Racing Pulley
Jet Chip Swap
B&M Racing Oil and Tranny Cooler.
Greddy SP Exhaust
HighFlow Cat Converter
6 Direct Ign Heads
NGK BRP7ess

The best acceleration mod that I actually felt was the Cold Air intake.
It is just tough to get 200hp FWD naturally aspirated cars to go fast.

If you have high mileage already and want to definitely end up rebuilding that tranny within the next 6 months go ahead with the 125 shot lol. Nitrous puts a huge strain on your transmission i sprayed mine with high mileage and blew my tranny. Id get it rebuilt first tell them you want it built to withstand some power adders and as much as its gonna hurt to shell out the big money now.. Youll just be saving yourself the headaches down the road when you have to do it unexpectedly.
