4th Generation Painting 97 camry

I have a 97 camry and it is in need of a paint job . I was wondering if anyone here could give me a number for how much it costed them to repaint their Gen 4 camry. I'm not talkingabout A a fancy color or anythang just the stock color: antique sage (metalic). thank you for your help!

timing belt should be fine till about 180 maby a little less. expect a full paint job to be between $1 - 1.5K at least.

If you get the top quality job from Macco, its about 1k and it'll look good for a while, but expect chips around the wheel wells and stuff by the 2nd year. I learned the hard way

If you really want to save money, learn how to do it yourself and purchase a paint gun and compresser. It'll come out to about half the cost and since you have the tools, you can paint any car at any time! You could even make some cash painting your friends new bumpers or whole cars for other people.

this is true as long as u have a good paint booth to do it in. i built one at my old house out of some cheap crappy wood and a tarp. it looked like shit but it had all the things a good paint booth should have and it was sturdy. if u do consider painting urself, get LOTS of practice before u attempt it on ur car.

A little over a year later, after my first post, and I'd like to say, the camry's hood, trunk, and roof are looking really bad. The clear coat is compleateley gone! We don't know why this has happened other than toyota did a shit job of painting it. We know someone who has the same year and color camry, and the paint looks nice and shiney still. It was always taken care of, washed, garage kept, and waxed. It's not even our oldest car and it is now the car we don't want to drive anymore cuse the paint looks so crappy. We bought a 2000 Camry Solara V6 SLE it's candy apple red in Nov 07' and so far we love it. end of last month we got it it's first timeing belt and a couple other little things.
