My 98 Camry I4 with 145,000 miles runs great normally, but it has recently started shutting off in stop and go traffic. When it does this, the engine temp appears in normal range. When it shuts off, it won't start again for 10 to 15 minutes, and then runs rough and bucks until you can get to reasonable speed, and then runs fine again. Timing belt, plugs, plug wires, and both coils were just replaced, but the problem persists. Any suggestions.....please!

if you wait 10 or 15 minutes for engine to cool down, sound like ECT sensor malfuction, telling ECU the engine is still cold, and give more gas, thus, flooding the engine with gas at low idle, but just my guess, i could be wrong.
in addition to those suggestions above, have you checked or ever replaced your pcv valve?
cheap part and very easy to check if it's still good on your i4 motor.
Thanks, guys. I have not changed the PCV valve, so I will try that first. If that doesn't work, I will try those other ideas. You are right on about throwing parts at the problem. So far I am at about $600, and the same problem persists. I will let you know how it comes out, and if anyone has any other ideas, please let me know.
oh i guess the other problem could be a really gunked up throttle body and idle air controller that can be cleaned out with liberal usage of throttle body cleaner.
for the pcv, just take it out and shake it. if you hear a ball inside rattling freely, then its fine.
First thing you should do is to check trouble codes.. If you're not keen on DIY, any el-cheapo shop with a $99 code reader should be able to tell you what's going on.. some will even do it for free. That will save you the most time and money, spending cash on stuff your car doesn't need.

I agree with nodrogkam, clean the throttle body and the idle air control valve. Here's a link to a DIY thread on the cleaning:
There is also a good thread on this forum with some great pictures. Do a search for "throttle body cleaning". Note the square or diamond shaped hole in the base of the throttle body. That is the port that leads to the idle air control valve. Spray that liberally with the cleaner and let it soak while continuing to clean the rest of the throttle body.
