3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Ok, well my mad plans to turbo a 5S with a Turbonetics T3, their exhaust manifold and maybe a Raptor BOV have led me ask this question. Where do I find driveshafts that will hold up to about 200HP or a little more b/c between the power, the lightweight flywheel and a new clutch with more bite I don't feel like experiencing broken drive shafts/CV joints so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Oh, btw I have looked for the Celica and MR2 b/c I know if there out their they won't be under the Camry.
Best bet is to contact one of the custom driveshaft shops although i personally wouldn't worry. You really don't have to worry about your shaft until well above the 250 range if at all.

200whp should hold up perfectly fine. Once you start to cross the 300 mark is when you may want to pursue other things.
Is that the s54 tranny? You could try one of the solara (e351), or modified mr2t (e153) trannies. The mr2t axles are really strong, 600whp+ on some with stock axles, just different bearings.
Custom axles are often not that strong. There have been many many failures in the MR2 community with custom axles.
You'll blow the engine long before you break the axles. Unless they start out broken that is.
