Camery Gen3 V4 Catalytic converter and middle pipe

Hi,

My local mechanic qoutes $195 for the Catalytic Converter and $240 for the middle exhuast pipe (so it says in the invoice).

Does anyone know if I can find these parts cheaper on the internet, or maybe use non-OEM parts.

If so what site you recommend and/or part numbers that will fit the Toyota 2.2L V4 LE 1993 Sedan.

Thanks,
George

Btw: sorry for the misspelled title!

First of all, you have an I4 engine, standing for inline 4 cylinder. It's the 2.2 liter 5SFE engine.

I would try calling around to local muffler shops in your area to get competitive prices on this job. Most muffler shops will use aftermarket parts. These are acceptable. You will need to know which engine you have when you call these shops. The more knowledgible you sound, the less likely the chance you will get taken for a ride by any shops; dealer or aftermarket.

Good luck.

My friend (who fixes cars) are going to do this job outselves so I am just looking for the parts. Anyplace online that is recommended? I know there are aftermarket brands, I just don't know which ones and which ones would fit my Toyota?

Thanks,
George

Exhaust work like this usually requires a torch to remove rusted nuts and bolts. I hope you or your friend has a torch available. Laying on your back underneath the car while using a torch can be dangerous. That is why I usually leave exhaust system work to a professional.

That said, call several aftermarket auto parts stores in your area. They will be able to tell you what aftermarket parts they carry that will fit your car.

I just had to order this for my 96 camry since my flex pipe was leaking.

Price is $147.27 just about everywhere

As for the rusted bolts, spray some liquid wrench, try a socket and if it doesn't budge, use a hammer.
