Rippmods Headers = p0420 CEL Gone

Well thank you Diehonda for the idea of the spark nonfoulers. Its been almost a month now with no check engine light. I figured I would write this thread just incase someone has the same issue I did with the p0420 code with the ripp headers.

The basic idea was to drill out a spark plug non fouler with a 1/2" drill and then screw the o2 sensor into the nonfouler and then into the o2 bung.

Well it took me two drilled out nonfoulers and one nondrilled placed into the o2 bung end on the pipe. Bye bye CEL light.

Camera phones suck...

No problem, glad to help. Sorry took me so long, I have been MIA and don't think I have posted in several months.

If it took three nonfoulers to reduce the heat detected enough to not throw a CEL you could add a bung to your midpipe and run that sensor to the bung further downstream. Just depends on if you run an after market midpipe. No point in doing that to the stocker.

No cat? Man your exhaust must be loud!
Mine just went away one day after the baffle blew out. I guess it fixed itself

wow, Im suprised to see this thread come back up. Thanks again Diehonda for the solution. Ive actually ran into a new problem since getting the cat code off. Been getting a p1130 and p1133 code. I would assume to replace the air/fuel sensor on the manifold(my 5sfe is cali spec), but after replacing the air/fuel sensor with a denso and then a toyota sensor, I still get the codes coming back sometimes the same day and other times a week... Any suggestions on this would be extremely helpful. Alabama does not have inspections or emissions so it is not a big deal if this is an unavoidable cel with these headers.

Funny you mention this, my cat blew recently also. Local exhaust shop told me it looks like the shop that did the install replaced my stock cat with an obd1 cat instead of an obd2 one? lol =/

What I heard is that the flow was already pretty good on the stock header and there was barely no hp to gain with a new one...
