would t be cheaper to swap a 3sgte into my cam or a 1mzfe
im trying to make my cam into a sleeper havent seen none in houston. theres too many civics. im trying to spank my home boys ls/vtec. i can get the money but dont know what is better and easier for my car. and no im no going to buy a new car i have too keep this one "work with wat you got" i need some advice thank you
If you have the money to swap a 3sgte then you do have enough money to get a faster car just sell the camry and add the swap money and you got alot lol. I heard the 3sgte swap is more expensive then swapping in a v6.
it is. the 1mz is gonna be cheaper then the 3sgte. the question is how much performance r u trying to get out of it? if so then the 3sgte is better, but as u can see around here, with a little creativity and some money to throw around the 1mz can put out some staggering numbers(tony). the 3sgte takes a little more work then the 1mz just because all the parts and what not will swap failry easly and cheaply. are u swaping from a 4 or a 6cyl? that will also make a differance in cost.
swapping to a stock 3sgte is only going to get you about as much power as a stock 1mz+5speed swap, and the v6 has a better power curve. get rid of the factory y pipe and thats over 200 crank horsepower right there.
The 3sgte is good in smaller cars, like Celicas and MR2s, but in order for it to make any good power at all you have to get rid of that stock turbo and put SOMETHING else there, ct26 FTL. If you plan on a 3s swap plan on having to upgrade the turbocharger to get the power you want. Then you get to deal with tuning it
I say do a manual v6 swap, you will get gas mileage the 3s people wish they had, and an awesome power curve not to mention power down low.

^^ yes as Luckynumber5 stated....a swap to a manual will get you back some good power....because the auto puts down about 155-160hp to the wheels....a swap to the manual will do a lot better....btw...if someone could tell me how much hp will be at the wheela after a swap to a manual on a V6...i would really appreciate it....dont mean to hijack the thread sorry.
To my understanding the best thing to do if I had money like that would be to buy a 3vz-fe and build the sucker up and turbocharge it and of course get the e153 manual tranny and maybe a 75-100 shot of nos too and it will be damn powerful and reliable
I personally dont like spray, but to each his or her own! I have the 1MZ, and it is auto. I have seriously considered the 3sgte swap, and my hubby is all about it, but I think Id rather have my motor, but with a 5 speed if anything. Thats my opinion, but Ill tell you what, there are alot of civics around here, and Ive yet to be beaten by one. I have raced b16's, modded and not, as well as LS swaps, and many others. We own a performance shop, and these kids pour money into these civics and then they are pissed that they still get beat by a girl in a 4 door pink and black camry auto with nothing more than a muffler and an intake! I dont see the point in the 3sgte swap, except I like the idea of having a turbo. But I really dont want a 4 banger- no offense to anyone. Get the 1mz 5spd- IMO.

3s-gte's are slower, and more expencive.
If you're having to swap, v6 + M/T + afew easy N/A mods on it's way in the car is going to be less expencive, more economical, and as fast if not faster than a BPU'd 3s-gte. And a fuckload more reliable.
Things were different years ago. At the moment, the 3s-gte is alittle silly to chose over a v6.
Selling your car & buying a v6 is not only the cheapest endevor, but it's also the best one considering you get a better trimmed car, along with factory upgrades to every mechanical aspect of the car. Suspension, brakes, etc...
and sup with the chick? She better be cute as hell to offset the blinding pink text. lol
