3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
i just recently ordered a full set of KYB GR-2's for my 1994 Camry Coupe and i need to know what would be the most suitable spring setup to go along with these...
My car is lowered already (stock struts, Dropzone or some crap for lowering springs)
my car sags in the rear as you can see in the pic - some people say it looks broken, others sa the rear wheel well is about 1 inch shorter than the front...
whats up with this???
bought from some local guy who probly doesnt even know what a Camry is
says there Dropzone or something and they will provide a 2 inch drop all around
doesnt look like that to me
now please lend some advise or somewhere i can get some good springs
i was looking at Intrax or B&G since i want a lower drop
ive looked hard at both the spring FAQ and the spring and strut install FAQ in the stickies
the installer shows GR-2's with what looks like Intrax springs, and i want a set up such as that
not some uneven, unsafe peice of sh*t
my OEM struts are shot so that may have somehting to do with it
also the front springs installed just fine, but the rears had a 1 inch gap between the top of the spring and the top strut mount!!! so thats one reason its too low in the back
basically my springs are junk and im waiting for my GR-2's and i need new lowering springs
drop zone are crap as far as i know, it is saggin. i have sprint which is ok, i bought them cuz they have the lowest drop with out coilovers. but alot of people like H&R or eibachs with tokicos.
I've got a set of Tokico blues here in my room, and a set of Intrax springs in the mail. I got them on the reccomendation from TheAmazingNate in the springs/struts/coilovers thread. It is a great resource, just go look at cars that ride like you want and use those springs. Intrax is the lowest drop from a well known manufacturer that I know of, I don't know much about sprint, and the Ebiach's and H&R's aren't much of a drop.
ya im very aware of my options and im looking for a good lower drop, like 1-1.5 fingers
ive looked into intrax and i found some on ebay but if anyone knows f a good place to get them then let me know
also ive got wheels on the way too, 17" Nakayama's
so ill make sure to do a follow up on this to see how it turns out
ya Bigbird your camry looks grat i was just looking at your profile
i like you setup and i wanna achieve something like that
now i have to ask you did you recently buy a set of wheels, from some guy in California, a set of black rims with a polished lip??
i think i was gonna get those but i backed out cause shipping was too much
hehe if it was you you sure got a good deal those are great wheels
anyways nice ride, in going for somehtinglike that too
I got my intrax on ebay for $118 shipped, but I got lucky and found a new seller with a really low price (I used paypal incase anything went awry, but I've got a tracking number, so everything seems good). Most Intrax on ebay are around $230 shipped. Sprints look to be around $200 shipped.
hmm ya thats what i found for pricing, and your lucky you got a good price but once these sruts arrive ill make my decision to order intrax, cause these dropzone springs are a perfect example of a careless waste of time to make a product to compete and sell to people like me, then again it was an only option and i should have stuck with the fine help from you guys
hehe
anyways it will work out in the end ,suspension, wheels, lots of light, little mods, im happy
actually i wanna do a grill mod like what Bigbird did, seems easy and ill just go find a grill off a wreck and practice on that
in the future a wanna do an hid projector retrofit, in some Depo clear lenses but im weary about that and not sure about how the system works, just gotta give it a try but ill ask about that later
na the wheels fell through, guy made a mistake and couldnt sell them, but i have another set on order. it souuld look perfect with 17 on it. i actually gutted the center of my grille and wraped it in gutter mesh, gehtto but looks good imo.
true, true might have to do it myself except leave the toyota emblem poking out the mesh
lots of time, a lot less moola hehe but ill get around to it
i love my cam, and i plan to keep it
low km's, garage kept, every oil change and maintence accounted for, bought from a friend of my dad's locally = cant go wrong with a camry plus its a 2 door 5 speed so im extra happy
i know im only 18 and i have much more important things to keep in mind, but thats why i have the camry cause its so damn reliable and it just works, but i treat it well and now it works with style if thats what you wanna call it
I recently installed HR sports. the red ones, and KYB's. I have a V6, and I'm pleased with the drop I got..suppose to have been 1.3" front and 1.25 in the rear..I think it was alittle more than that!..
hey i love you camry too, i wish i had rear discs but mines not v6
another questions, is that you notice the whiteish streak along the lowest part of the car (rocker pannel) anyways thats not mud ladies and gentlemen
thats rock chips, from the shitty area this car was driven in all its life, where they would either sand the rods in summer, or the roads just suck so badly that it had worn the paint away on the underside and no where else on the car - paints just fine everywhere else
i need to paint it black like alot of you have done, is that a hard process and i do have a buddy who coul do it, doesnt seem to hard, should a use a tough underbody paint, i dont want the rough texture just fix it up and be black......
