3rd Generation gen 3 with disk brakes all around?

i was wonderin how many of you guys have a 3rd gen with 4 wheel disk brakes. apperantly all my calipers are froze except the front passenger (original calipers... car has 207k miles). i need calipers, pads, rotors, ect. the fronts arent so expensive but the guy said that since i have disks in the back that its gonna be alot more expensive becuase it was usually drums in the back on camrys. so iwas wondering how many of you guys have disks in back and if so how expensive it was to replace the calipers/ect. in back (obvioiusly if you have done so)

the shop quoted me $1400 for the job. its quite insane if you aske me since the car is only worth around 2200 on a good day.

The V6 models have 4-wheel-disc brakes.

The I4, I'm not so sure, maybe the XLE and SE, but they probably have different parts.

I *think* that the 2000-1 Camry I4 LE and XLE has the same front brake setup as the 92-96 V6 Camry. I am not certain of this, but I think I was looking up what cars a certain aftermarket brake pad was compatible with and the 92-96 V6 Camry came up. Look into this before you buy these parts - don't take my word about the 2000-1 I4 front brake setup.

I had to replace both rear calipers on the coupe awhile back and it, cost me 344 bucks including labor! included new pads...the rotors were fine!...Shop around, that estimate seems pretty high..and you could try searching ebay for calipers too!

All V6 have discs...the i4's XLE have discs as well, but the front rotors are smaller than the v6. So it's pretty common.

As for pricing, it seems very high. Pads are ~70 a set for front, and the same for the rears. Rotors range from $50 to $100 max each. Calipers are about $100-$150 each. Labour is pretty quick on them I'd say about 3 hours max for all four brakes including bleeding the lines.

I say buy the parts yourself to see if you can get it any cheaper ( I bought brembos for like $250 for all four rotors), and just have a shop do the labour....

"the i4's XLE have discs as well"

I believe that's partially correct. On the I4's, only those with ABS came with 4 wheel disc brakes. I am the original owner of a 94 XLE with ABS and hence 4 wheel disc brakes. I ordered the car this way back in 94.

ABS was bundled with 4 wheel discs as an option. Both came together as Mike stated. *aded* My old '92 LE I4 had disc. More Camry's came with disc then without. I think all wagon's had 4-wheel disc as well, not sure though.

Silva, let me know if you need prices at the dealer. I can get you a discount here in Stamford, CT on parts. They sell Re-manufactuered ones.

Get the parts, drive here to my place, gimme a little $, and I;ll change the pads, rotors, rear calipers, and flush, bleed the brakes.
