Well, when I first bought my camry it came with tint installed already. The old owner had tint all around and while I parked on the streets I got a ticket because here in Illinois you cant have tint on your front windows [driver, pas], so I decided to take all the tint off because I thought I had too dark of a tint percentage and I got about 2 tickets while I was parked on the streets. The problem is, on my rear window, the glue is still on and I want to get rid of it because I cant see anything. Im scared if I use a razor blade like I did on the rest, would scrape off my defroster lines. What should I do? Do you guys think putting tint back on would help or do I really need to remove the glue first?
wtf?? they gave you a ticket when the car was parked huh?? When it comes to illegal tint tickets they can't give it to you unless you in the car because they have to put the machine on the window when is somewhat opened to see how much light goes in.
If it hasn't been long since you had the car i would use that as a defense. I would definitely not use a razor if you ever want to use your defogger again. I would try acetone or undiluted ammonia. Here's link that explains all the steps so you don't mess anything up:

I swear I got a ticket while parked it was on a day during summer a couple years ago and a couple hours later after I came out from eating I saw a ticket on taped my driver side window. BTW where can I get acetone, auto parts store?
is there anything else that doesnt smell as bad as acetone but works the same way? and do I really need to remove the old tint glue on my rear window first to put tint back on?

Yes, you definitely want to remove the old glue before putting new tint. Tint already has glue on it and it will look horrible if you have blotches of glue everywhere. Some tint shops will remove old tint and glue residue, but they might charge $40/hour labor.
If you get nail polish remover, some have no acetone so you may need to look out for that.
I'd say follow the directions that NCCam linked to.
you should go fight the tickets...they cant give you a ticket unless your driving adn say you were goign to get the tints off since you bought the car with the tints, about removing glue...do wat they other guys say...because i have no idea on how to remove that...good luck

I would also show them that you got the first ticket and didn't have the time to remove the tint before receiving the second ticket. You may not be able to get out of both but hopefully if the judge isn't a jerk you'll get out of at least one.
ticket I got was a couple years ago and the ticket isnt my concern right now... What im concerned is about removing the old glue off the rear windshield. Since I live right by an auto parts store (murray's discount) im planning to buy tint adhesive remover. If I spray tint adhesive remover for instance, it wouldn't wipe off my defroster lines would it?
