Question Update 4/26 More!! Help Me Find Out Where these Go for 93 V6 Camry!!

5/10 Update:
The car has been repaired at TNT Repair Service Inc, and it runs great and smooth now. The only thing replaced was one of the Fuel Injectors, but after all this, I decide to sell it off, because I realized that a V6 is too much work for me if somthing went wrong in the furture, an since I got this car for a great deal from a friend's mother, I might get more money back and able to find a 4cylinder car

Thanks all for your help, and now I will try to find a 4cylinder corolla/camry

Thanks!

4/30 Update:
After some test driving this past weekend after replacing the Vacuum Switching Valve, the crazy vibration and rpm raise or drop and jerk when chaning shift positio are alot better. However there are still other problems such as vibration during ideling and acceleration, and seems to be lost its power, which I believe might be caused by soemthing else...at this point I'm thinking timing belt or somthing else that i just dunno about.

Anyways, I give up since I really don't have the right equipments to dig deeper, so I took my car to "TNT Repair Services Inc" in Oceanside, CA as recommended by our fellow TN member 'dlichterman'. Hopefully they will pin out the problem for me, and I can share it with you guys with the similiar problems.

I will update this as I find out more.

4/26 Update:
Thanks for the help guys, the major problem is now fixed after I replaced the Vacuum Switching Valve as suggested by csaxon.
Also according to renmike I will let shop check my timing next....since I'm not sure how and dun have the equipments.
and I will also check out the engine mounts after these following things are fixed...Seems to be a PITA to replace engine mounts...i wonder how much shop would charge...

Anyways, so since I feel the car still isn't as smooth as before, I poked around more and find some other loose connections again, so again, help me out guys find out Where/if these connectors connects to anything. Thanks very much.

Thanks for the help, so according to Midnightmach, that plug doesn't go anywhere,
then what can be the cause this problem shown in this video I took.

http://www.viddesign.net/camry

(For those also wondering the same thing, this wire dosen't connect to anything as noted by midnightmach)
http://www.viddesign.net/camry/camry1.wmv

http://www.viddesign.net/camry/camry2.wmv

When start-up the engines Revs to 2000rpm.
then drops down to a little over 1000rpm after about 1min.
then once shifts from P to Reverse or Drive, the engine jerks and the car seems to jerk/jump forward
or back depends on if you shift to D or R. then the rpm drops down below 1000rpm, after shift engages.

Even when the car is warm, once shift to P or N, the rpm rev back to a little above 1000.

And during all this time, the engine/car vibrate and shakes, and a very strong smell of gas and white smoke comes out from exhaust.

This is a V6 where engine suppose to be smooth and not rough, it happened the day after I purchased it while I was driving and drove over a regular bump in shopping mall at normal speed.

After this happened, I thought something went lose and replaced spark plug, spark wires, distributor cap, rotor, engine gasket, air filter, cleaned throttle body, changed oil, but problem remains the same.
So does someone have an idea? I really need this car running, and its kinda dangerous to drive like this.

Let me know if additional info is needed.

Just found this forum and hope someone can help

I recently purchased a 93 Camry V6 from a friend,
car ran smooth until I went over a bump on the road.
Engine starts to rev high, the whole care vibrates and jerk when changing tranny position.
for example when move from P to D, or to R the whole car would jerk.

Look insided the engine and I found the following wire not connected and this green thing broken in half/which I glued back together, let me know if it would effect anything.

So my problem is, I'm not sure where this connector goes. Please help and maybe take a pic to show me where it suppose to go. Thanks.

I've looked in the manual but still can't figure it out.

I Highlight the wires in red.

(This is the Vacuum Switching Valve that fixed the issue pointed out by csaxon)

As far as gluing that piece together I dont think that would harm anything, but I would still replace it. As for the clip I'm not sure where it goes. I have a 95 V6 and I cant find anything that resembles that connection. Hopefully someone on here knows what that wire goes to.

If that plug came off of the alternator harness then mine isnt connected either, but i doubt that is the problem with your car.

This might sound like an odd question, but when you changed the distributor cap, did you notice if the distributor was bolted on tight? For some reason, when I hear your symptoms, the timing keeps on coming to mind. If you have a friend with a timing light, have them check out what timing you're currently running. I'm thinking that perhaps the distributor was loose and when you hit the bump it moved just enough to throw your timing off.

Vacuum Switching Valve if leaking or defective it can cause symptoms you describe.

Hm, I'll replace it first and see what happens...
Guess if it broke in half, I can't just glue it together
I will update on the result after its replaced hope it would fix the problem...

Go 3/4 down the page and follow the test procedures for everything attached to the system before throwing parts and money at it!

Sounds like a vacuum leak from the engine compartment, which very likely has to do with the Vacuum Switching Valve, as csaxon pointed out.

The jerking of the transmission, and some of the engine vibration, may actually be bad motor mounts. The motor mount may already have been bad when you bought it, but only showed up when you hit the bump.

you CAN glue the vsv back together as long as you didn't break the actual switch and can make sure that it's sealed tight

If someone can just take some detailed photo of their engine compartment, that would be great

In the second pic with that open vacuum port, it looks like the line that is supposed to go there is right below the circle you made. That line should go to a large vacuum canister under your cruise control box, then back on top of the engine there and over to the top left of the engine bay, it connects to whats called an ACIS, or part of the intake.

Check on the top of your hood and you should find a vacuum diagram, you will see what I'm talking about when you look at the diagram.
