3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Hello. I've been viewing alot of the "rims" and "lexus IS rims" topic for the information needed to mount the rims I just purchased. They are 10 spoke, 50 offset, 17x7, 5x4.5 bolt pattern alloy rims. The guy that sold me the rims said they were from a suzuki vehicle. I checked with suzuki website and couldn't get a definite answer so I'm not even sure if it is from suzuki. Now, is there a way to view all rim pattern and get a positive I.D. who make the rims? If you're asking why I'm doing this, I just want to know who makes it and is it still available. Just in case if I needed a rim or two, I could buy it. Also, they type of lug nuts used is important. How do I determine the type? Toyota makes a few types and I think most use the shank type. I checked with suzuki and they're using the acorn type. I can always use the oe lug nuts that came with my car since its an acorn type if that is the case.
I'll try to post some pics of the rim and post it here. Hopefully, it isn't like finding a needle in a haystack. Thanks!

It looks similar to mine. Are you sure you need the 5mm spacers? 6.5 isn't very wide so I don't think you'd need them. Are you sure there is no manufacturer on the inside of the wheel?
There are some stamp numbers and letters on the inside face of the spokes. Got the offset and rim size data from that. The others, I don't know. Cuold be rim codes for factory use only.
Btw, your rim was also an option of mine but its kind of hard looking for late year oe rims on a budget. Thanks!

I think I have enough info to go with here. Hopefully, they would have it in stock when I need to purchase. Now, just have to order the tires. Going with Goodyear Assurance Tripletread. Since this one is daily driven, looking for the max. mileage I can get. The last set (currently still using) has already close to 80,000 miles. Its kind of scary when you think there is already that much mileage on them. Tjhanks again everybody.

Those are JDM Suzuki SX4 wheels that are only available on the 2.0S model.
How in the world did you get them? The USDM SX4 is only available with 16" wheels and even on the JDM SX4, 4 out of 5 model grades (1.5E, 1.5G, 1.5XG, 2.0 XS) come with the 16"s.
Here's a photo from Suzuki Japan website.

Holy cow, you did it?! I saw these wheels for sale at craigslist. The guy that sold it worked at Suzuki in Brea. I guess they have much access to whatever comes in to the plant. As for replacement, I guess that will be harder since they're not available for the local model. It was just a coincidence that the wheels have the same hub center hole as toyota. Hopefully the 6.5" width is enough for me to not use the spacers in the back. Thanks again.

Here is the final verdict of all this. Had the tires mounted. They are Goodyear Eagle ResponsEdge 215-50-17. Had to change it from Goodyear Assurance Tripletread because the latter closest size is 205-50-17.
The shot of the whole car
Front wheel well
Rear wheel well
Here are the issues I've encountered with this setup. Had to use spacers in the rear because of the tires. Couldn't find a cap from toyota that can fit a 2" center cap hole. might go with a blank cap and a toyota sticker. Front hole is another story. The hub with the threaded part sticks out about 1/4" or a little bit more. Maybe just leave it as is with the center cap. Was it scepter or somebody with an IS300 rim that rub in the front wheel well when making full turn. Same thing here. I guess the extra width rubs the plastic liner as well as the rubber material that covers the well.
All in all it was good. This is my first aftermarket rim purchase and although its not cheap (tire wise) I am satisfied with the performance of it. The slight turn to the left is gone. I guess after 80,000 miles, the old tire are a little off. The tires are very quiet except for going over road reflectors which makes a thud. Hugs well at 60+ mph. Still have to break them in at freeway speed to see how they handle and when slowing down. I still have a month to try them and if I'm not satisfied, I can return them a get something else but only goodyear tires. Good deal from them.
I'm still looking for caps to fit front and rear. If anybody has information or ideas, please chime in. Thanks again.

Ya know, there's probably a chance that the Suzuki SX4 with 16" wheels uses the same caps as the 17" wheels.
You can check out a Suzuki dealer or a local import salvage yard. I can't imagine any salvage yards would have an SX4 totalled out, but you never know...
It may be a bit pricey, though.
In more than a few salvage yards I've been to, they usually have a box or a drawer full of assorted center caps (as well as a drawer full of shift knobs, assorted knobs, switches, etc..).
You may get lucky and find one that happens to fit.
