3rd Generation ODD Noise-please Read

1993 3vzfe 137k

went on a road trip over the weekend after changing the oil. Before we left to come home I put a can of seafoam in the tank because the guy at the auto store recommended it. A little while later while driving I noticed a shudder at the higher speeds when I gave gas, but the car still ran and made it home.

Is still starts right up but I hear the ever-so-slightest knocking sound coming from the engine. Its almost like I am imagining it but the car still runs rough and shudders like its missing.

The sound however has me worried, I just chaged the oil and the temp remained in the normal range. I plan on looking at the plugs

any other suggestions, Has anyone else had similar issues with seafoam?

thanks for your help guys

Doubt if one can of Seaform would cause any problems. Toyota uses something simular to clean the injectors. Did the noise start after the oil/filter change?

noisy rosie

noise started after the oil change and after the seafoam. Again, first thing I noticed was the shaking at high speeds.

bought 6 new plugs , lets see if this helps

Drive it after refilling the tank, to dilute the sea foam. And see if it gets better each time. Its possible the seafoam might have loosened some crud in the intake system or maybe intake valves or something, but at only 137,000 miles i cant imagine it'd be all that dirty. Besides which it is like 12 oz. of seafoam in a 19 gallon tank so it wouldnt seem likely the seafoam is the problem, but who knows - maybe yo ugot the wrong oil filter or something?

crud is a dirty word

I ll fill the tank in the am.

the car idles a little lower than normal and though it starts up every time with the first turn, it seems like it working a little harder. could a fouled plug do this? ANyways, the next step will be to change the plugs and go from there, If any of you have any suggestions they are greatly appreciated, thanks again guys.
