3rd Generation brand new cat back

im getting a brand new cat back from a custom shop for 200 but i dont no the proper size. 2.5 inch or 2.25? which will be better? lots of people have said that 2.5 will help and some said i will lose power?

both are fine, if you have the i4 engine i wouldn't worry about losing something you don't have in the first place.

The bigger the diameter on a N/A, more low end torque you will lose but more horsepower at high revvs. It is mostly when you want the horsepower and torque to kick in.

If you have the i4 then go with 2.25" but if you have the v6 then go with 2.5". There's a general rule when it comes to piping and certain displacement engines but on second thought if you have the i4 most likely you rev above 3500 rpms alot just to get it up to speed lol so I guess 2.5' would be hot.

Like said before,

5SFE (I4) - 2.25"

1MZFE (V6) - 2.5"


The V6 already has plenty of torque, so open the diameter of the piping from stock to gain a tiny bit of the top end horsepower that they lack. And for the 4 cylinder, there really isn't any reason to go anything over 2.25" unless you're planning on a turbo in the future.
