3rd Generation Broken Driver Side Window winder

Ok I have a 93 Camry with manual door winders.

Recently the winder stopped working and now the window just randomly slides down itself. I had to wedge some cardboard in to stop it dropping. I have pulled the interior and pulled out the box where the wires head to but i didn't pull the box apart as i didn't want to totally screw it without knowing what i was doing.

It seems that there is something not gripping when you try to wind up but it is ok when you wind down.

Does anyone know if this is repairable or whether the whole box needs to be replaced..

If you need to replace the whole box does anyone know how to do this as a th haines manual isn't very hlpful in this area.

Also does anyone know how much a winder set up costs if you can buy them. $AU?

thanks

The manual setup usually has a crank with a gear and a rack with teeth. Sometimes the teeth get damaged, something breaks. Find the service info at the link below. Replacement should not be difficult, might try junkyards for parts.
