HELP HELP, i figured out something to SAVE my camry

So as many of you know my camry has about 10K on it and i was trying to get rid of it. I just realized something today. I tightened the kickdown calbe and reset the battery and all of a sudden it shifts gears again as it took FOREVER to shift before and barely got into gear. It still shudders alot getting into gear but it gets there since i reset to ECU. WHAT COULD CAUSE THIS???? HELP? i know a lot about cars but not about Auto transimission.

What year is it? Seems like 10K miles is really low for a 1994-2001 Camry.

It's a 1993 Camry, V6, with 200,000 miles. The engine was rebuilt 10,000 miles ago. The transmission has been giving him troubles but apparently he has now figured out a way to get the tranny to work "good enough" to keep the car going for a little while longer.

And it is also for sale, $500.

My '92 I4 auto quit shifting correctly and I dropped the tranny pan and removed and cleaned the shift solenoids. (Also changed filter and fluid.) No problems since.

alright, well i think i narrowed it down. i did some research in the manual and targeted the Shift selenoid SL and it controls the hydraulic pressure applied to lock-up the clutch and controls lock up timing. My problem is the time between shifting and locking into gear, hence the shuddering; i think. ANy other input. anybody ever replace this thing? is it doable/cheap?

would a shudder stop transmission fluid additive help? it helps in cases when the automatic clutch disks lose their friction material from wear and the fluid was changed so there isnt any more friction material suspended in the fluid thus causing the shudder. my buddys olds intrigue shuddered when it changed gears after changing the trans fluid. he added a bottle of this stuff, and the shudder went away. and this was about 2 years ago, and everything is still running as it should.

^^ well i would suspect the clutches if i figured out the computer didn't have such a direct impact on the shifting. Ill definately change fluid and check if things are floating around in there, but im pretty sure it will lead me to a solenoid or possibly even a throttle position sensor; but ill definately keep that in mind

If you have a shudder, the trans is likely on its last legs. THe more you drive it with the shudder, the more damage you will do to the trans, although any fix is likely to be a complete rebuild anyways. When you tighten up the throttle pressure cable, you are increasing the overall hydraulic pressure for the trans at higher rpms. You are best to do a pressure test on the trans to see if it is within spec. If it is, then it is likely the clutch packs.

Ive read through the toyota repair manual and did a troubleshooting matrix on it. ALmost everything points to the solenoids, and to me thats not the end of the world. If it were mechanical, then when i reset the ECU i would have shifted as bad as it did before which it shifts far better and quicker, but it still carries its shudder which is, again directly linked to solenoids. It shudders between every gear change except reverse, another link to solenoids. Once in gear its very smooth, i usually have to press the accel. a bit more to get it into gear more solidly.
