Coolin fan repair for fun and profit...
Under the hood of my daily beater I spun one of the cooling fans and found it to be nearly locked up.
Having used the spare I had long ago, I decided to take it apart to see if I could fix it.
Two things were wrong.
1. The bushings were DRY.
2. One of the magnets had come loose and moved over, hitting the opposing pole.
I was shocked at how easy it was to repair this thing.
Normally, I would have bought a new one, but in this case...30 minutes, some electrical motor glue (super glue really) and some Amsoil synthetic grease...I saved the cost and have a fan motor that spins freely and will likely outlive the car.
I will try to post pics for interested parties.
