Question 1996 Toyota Vienta (Camry) V6 Auto Transmission Problem

Hi, Im new to this forum so I hope everything is right.

Firstly I have a

* 1996 Toyota Vienta (In Aus the 4cyl was called the Camry, the Vienta was the V6 from 1995 onwward)
* 3VZ-FE Engine (In Australia we didn't get the 1MZ-FE till Gen 4)
* 4-Speed O/D Automatic Transmission
* 160000kms (99000 miles about)

The problem I am having is whenever the car is running sometimes we will feel a slight kick/thud no matter if we are in Drive, Neutral or Park (Not sure about reverse). We can be sitting stationary in Park on the driveway when we feel this thud or be waiting at traffic lights or taking off. This problem randomly occurs and is sometimes more severe than others but i do notice when the car thuds, the rpm's drop ever so slighly and then return to normal. This thud only lasts 1/2 a sec whenever it occurs.

We are suspecting something in the transmission. The whole car was serviced less than 1000kms ago (Tranny Flush, Oil, etc) and the transmission fully serviced within the last year.

I have read similar problems on the internet with each giving a different answer. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

P.S I have limited knowledge about car servicing.

Are you sure it's not your A/C compressor clutch kicking in? Does it happen with A/C off or on? I would observe the compressor pulley and see if its cycling coencides with your "kick".

Well, it happens when the A/C is on and off. I think its more noticeable with the A/C on but im not 100% sure.

The one thing i do know it happens when the a/c & fan are both on or off.

Thanks for the quick reply
