2000 Camry LE fuel gauge and D position doesnt light up

A few days ago after starting my car i looked down and noticed the fuel gauge did not light up at night, its just really dim from the glow of the rest, it is the only one to not light up and i checked the fuses under the hood and behind the coin holder. also my D postion on the gauges doesnt light up either, all others do like R and P. just D does not.

anyone have any suggestions or how to's? i dont know where to begin or how to do much..

thanks in advance.

Sounds like the bulbs just burned out. Each gear selection has it's own bulb, and since mine was out on my '94 I just took it from the 2 gear, since I never use that. It's pretty easy to replace, but you need to remove a good part of the dash.

The "D" is a common bulb to burn out, as its ALWAYS lite. They have gone out on both my Gen 3's, as well as my dad's. The fuel guage is either a #194, or #74 bulb thats out.

The "D" is basically a dealer only bulb, and I think the POS is lke $6, haha. IF it;s the 194, it is a dealer bulb (unless you want to spend a little time taking the bulb out of the plastic base, and putting the new one in), and the #74 can be had at any parts store if I remember right. Would you happen to have a picture of the dash lite? I will be able to see which bulb it is from the pic.

*Edit

Also, if you plan to do this yourself, let me know, and I'll write up a quick Do It Yourself to gett he dashboard trim off. It just requires a basic tool set.

Oh damnit, just realized you have a 2000 Camry, haha. Damnit, I need to read. The "D" is the same, the Fuel is different. I'll see if I can find that out.

For the removal, this will liklely be your best bet. http://www.camrymanuals.com/index.ph...d=5&topicid=0& You can download it all, and save it for your future use. These are actually manuals from Toyota.

Im not sure if there is a DIY for the Gen 4, but maybe the Gen3 DIY guide will help.
