RS3000 Help

I just got a 98 Toyota Camry from a friend. It comes with the RS3000 alarm system. What I was wondering is there any way to get new remotes because when i got the car it didnt come with any. I also noticed that the red light on the dash does not blink. Does this mean the alarm systen is turned off? Also is it worth going to a toyota dealer to get if fixed or should I go with an aftermarket alarm system.

Thanks For Your Help.

you probably need new remotes to make it work. Programming instruction is in the sticky section. Also, make sure you get the correct remote coz there are 2 different remotes that looks the same, but differ in color. It MAKES a difference what color your get. So, you would have to try both of them out if you're not sure. Good luck.

I found the glass breakage sensor control under the dash but I cant find the ECU should it be in the same place? I already checked under the seats. I am also thinking it might be a fuse because the red light is not blinking. Does anyone know where the fuse is located or what is it called on the panel. I looked behind the coin holder and under the hood. I couldnt find a fuse that was named alarm. Is it unnamed?

the GBS and the ECU are located at different location. If the Ecu is not under the seat, then it should be behind the panel which is to the left of the steering wheel(US model). If you pry out the panel which has the dimming knob and the security led, you should be able to see the ECU unit.

NO it is not a fuse. The alarm was just diabled by the previous owner. In fact you can try it out by downloading the instruction in the sticky and try out other functions which can be done by ONLY using your car key. That should give you a little peace of mind that the ecu is still working before you go FOB hunting.

Thank you so much for your help. I have found the ECU. What I found was a grey wire that was cut by the previous owner. Maybe there was somthing wrong with the system. This weekend I'm planing to install an after market alarm system.

No, the grey wire is suppose to be the "antena" for the alarm! it si not cut, although it looked like it. You can always try the other features with the key and see if the other functions works. If it does, then you can just buy the FOB and reprogram it.

I have been looking on ebay for a keyless remote but I cant find any. My ECU unit is black. This Means I Will Need A Black Remote Right? This Is The Infomation That Is On My ECU.

Model:RS3000(08190-00921)
FCC ID:BAB237000-129
CANADA:2024 101 527 A
Product No. 237000-1291

Does the FCC ID on the ECU have to be the same as the one on the remote?
If anyone has or can find me a remote that will work with my ECU let me know.

Thanks For Your Help.

No, FCC iD on the ecu and your remote is not the same. You can try junk yards. They "may" carry the remote sometimes.

IF this is a factory remote...the instructions for programming new remotes are found in the SERVICE MANUAL for the vehicle. This is DIFFERENT than the owners manual.

You could just order a service manual for your vehicle which isn't that expensive, in order to get the instructions for programming a new remote, and then just snag a new remote off a eBay.
