3rd Generation vibration in rear over 60mph

in my 92 SE, i'm getting a pretty annoying vibration at 60mph and above and its source seems to be the right rear of the vehicle. i have inspected the tires for inflation and balance as well as for flat spots. i have replaced the right rear wheel bearing and have inspected the rear lateral links for wear and i see no evidence of play. what i can do is while the car is on the ground, if i grab the right rear tire, i can wiggle it. while squatting and wiggling, if i push in with my right hand and pull out with my left, the tire will move inward where i'm pushing with my right hand and makes a small clunking noise when i do so. like i said above, i inspected the links and they SEEMED ok. when i had the wheel off, i observed no play at all. i'm out of ideas. any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

this may seem like a dumb question but someone has to ask it. are u using the correct lugs? toyota lugs for the camry at least are open ended and ive seen someone use closed ended and end up with this exact problem. the lug ended up seating on the edge of the stud instead of the wheel.

This sounds like the bushing in that rear lateral control rod is gone. That's the one closest to the back of the car, that has the rear alignment adjustment built in to it. Jack up the car and support it safely on jackstands. Then try to move the wheel in and out at 9:00 and 3:00. If you can, and you can hear a clunk I would be willing to bet that the outer bushing in that rod is shot. If you can get underneath the car (be sure it is supported securely on that jack stand) and have someone try to move the wheel you will probably see the bushing give as you hear the clunk. It could also be a wheel bearing but if you can see the bushing give and hear the noise at the same instant, it is almost certainly that control rod. The only fix is to replace that "rear lateral control rod" (Toyota's name for the part) and realign the car.

i've replaced the rear bearing. also, the lugs on the car are correct and they are the closed end lugs. i have aluminum wheels and to the best of my knowedge, all camrys with aluminum wheels came with the closed in lug nuts. but thank you for your advice. well, when i get time this weeked i'll try jacing up the car again and giving that a try. i did it by myself twice and didnt see anything but it would be very helpful if someone would spin the tire and shake the wheel so that i could keep my full atention on that laeral control rod. it looked good when i looked at it but a second look couldnt hurt.

It does sound like a bad lateral link bushing .. lateral rod ... control arm ... one ... duhh..

One of them metal things back there got it some bad rubber stuff!
