Hey guys I was talking to someone who said that they puchased a High output alternator and didn't need a cap. I am thinking to myself is it worth it? do any fuses have to be replaced?
I'm currently using one and its pretty good. Havent had a problem with it yet. I've got it running two optima yellow tops.
Aside from installing that I would do the big-3 upgrade and upgrade your wiring.

A. remove the stock wiring from your:
1. Alternator to block
2. Battery to ground
3. Engine to Chasis
B. The you upgrade those wires to bigger wires. Usually 4 and 0 gauge
OR
A. Without removing the stock wiring you add bigger wire to
1. Alternator to block
2. Alternator to battery (Fuse with 100Amp fuse)
3. Battery to ground
4. Engine to Chasis
You can refer to these threads for some pics I took while doing the upgrades and adding my second battery:

Also in sub lingo the big three is where you wire three subs in amanner in which no sub can be louder, that is whatever dB output you get with three at it's peak is the most you can get, more subs won't add volume.
Well no. If anything I would say just get a OEM alternator... Why do you feel you need a high output alt?
The extra 20 amps wouldn't hurt eitherway. If its the price your concerned about then go with the 160.

well the reason I want to go with an High outout alt is because I plan on boosting my camry and I'm gonna have a piggyback system, with other lil gauges, my audiobahn sound system and above all I have an undriven crankpulley which is suppose to decrease the amount of power my oem alt puts out. in the near future I also plan to amp the interior speakers!
I'd go with the 180. The alts are top notch and if you have any problems dom is very helpful.

Nope I havent had it load tested as yet lol. I plan to eventually.
So far it holds up well with running a few TV's and my CarPC.

Curry, having worked with them before, do you know how they can be contacted? The phone number and email address are dead ends and I need to make sure their alternators can be built to fit my '93 Camry (3VZ-FE). They have it listed as the 3.0L, but before I go dropping 300 USD on eBay...
why dont yall just use one from a yota landcruiser or LX430. thoes are 180amp, or 160 i cant remember, and can be bought much cheaper, especially if u find one at a junkyard.
