Hi again! I took a trip last weekend and discovered a front-end vibration that I don't think was there before. The car goes smooth as glass almost up to 60 mph. At that point, there is a vibration that is barely detectable in the steering wheel. It becomes more noticeable at 65, and very apparent at 70. It doesn't seem to get worse by 75, which is as fast as I took it. I don't know how long this problem has been there as I very seldom get over 60 mph.
Last week I did replace the front brake pads and rotors. After I intalled the new parts and remounted the wheels, I drove the car around town for a while, and then retorqued the lug nuts, so I am pretty sure the wheels are mounted correctly. I did a visual check of the CV boots at the same time and they look perfect. Tires have approx. 50% tread. I couldn't tell for sure, but I had the sense that the vibration increased slightly when the highway would tend to the right, and decreased slightly when the highway would go left. That may be my imagination. I hear no clicking or other funny noises either on the highway or going slow with the windows down. The car is a '98, which means I need it to last at least until 2034 to beat my Dad's personal record of 35 years from his Toyota.
Any ideas?
