P0755 OBD Code-Tramission Issue : please help

Hi,

My 96 camry started showing CHECK Engine light since last evening. Took it to a dealer and he reported ODB Code 0755 and said the transmission needs to be replaced. He quoted 3K for that.

The car has 130K miles on it. Engine was changed when it was 121K miles with an engine of 80K miles life on it.

What should I do? Is replacing the transmission the only way? No problem with the car right now. Runs great.

Is spending $3K worthful?

Please advise.

Thanks for your time.

You have a sticking solenoid. It might clear itself or you might try to simply drain or flush your transmission fluid. It does NOT require a new transmission!

^ what he said....and quite often it will even go away by itself

and even if you need a new transmission, you can get a used one dropped in at a transmission shop for probably around 1K or so. if you can do it yourself, then you can do it for the couple hundred bucks that hte tranny will cost from a junkyard

Could be the solenoid valve or an internal clutch problem. The dealer should have narrowed down which. Did the dealer pull the trans oil pan and actually test the valve?
