overheats during idle, but not on the go

I've searched but I haven't found a solution for my problem. Basically my car gets 3/4 hot during idle, but while driving it drops back to normal at 1/2. I'm not sure if this has any correlation to it but during idle I hear my engine stutter for a second randomly throughout its duration. Any ideas would help thanks.

when you are idling, do the cooling fans kick on? you will hear it if they come on and should kick on the second the temp needle start to climb.

check the oil flow to your fans

also check the fans themselves for problems

your fans are driven by your powersteering pump, so there should be no electrical components to worry about or check. your fan should always be running.

May need to flush your coolant system, if part of it is blocked it may not be circulating through the radiator or the block properly at idle. If you flush it fill the system with clean water then add a bottle of radiator flush and drive it like that for a week or so then drain and fill with antifreeze and water.

Strangely my 3vz seems to eat coolant. I did the head gaskets and copper sprayed them, and recently did a water pump and timing belt and it hasn't changed. The coolant just seems to disappear no trace of it anywhere either.

^ have you checked your rad for small leaks? it doesn't take much to lose coolant without noticing
