4th Generation Strutmaster complete strut/spring setup

Does anyone know anything about the Strutmaster quick strut? Their website is www.strutmasters.com

I'm curious if anyone has experience w/ them. I called them yesterday and they say their setup was designed by Monroe for them, but didn't say they use Monroe parts. I'm looking for something alongs the lines of the Monroe Quick Strut for a quick, easy, and complete switch of my original struts w/ 160K on them.

Strutmaster is a cheaper ($600 for all 4) than Monroe ($750 from RockAuto) and are complete (strut, spring, bumpers, mount plate, etc) but I have no idea the quality.

Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Ordered from them in Jan 2007 and was happy with the order. Ordered front Monroe Quick Strut for my 98 Camry XLE V6. To my surprise I wasn't charge GST/PST or brokerage fees
or duties. The order to Canada included all taxes and brokerage fees/shipping fee.
Yes the quick strut kits are from Monroe. Checked many online struts and this company
was by far the lowest anywhere especially compared to the prices here in Canada.
The order arrived using UPS and took approx 5 days to ship.

Strutmaster uses the Monroe Quick Strut. I just replaced all four on a 98' Camry. If you go with the Quick Struts, be aware that Monroe's published specs on the front struts only are wrong. They specify 59 FtLbs for the top tower nuts and the correct torque is 29 FtLbs.

when I looked in the toyota repair manual, 59LbsFt is correct for the 3 top tower nuts ............. can someone verify this?

I also read 59 ft-lb, on page SA-43 (suspension and axle chapter). It also says 80 N-m, which is consistent. The Monroe studs may be made of a different material than the OEM ones, though. (The Monroe studs are Grade 9.8)

Strangely, the corresponding nuts on the rear strut are supposed to be tightened to 29 ft-lb.

This is a mystery.

I corresponded with Jaybird9 through email and he says the Toyota studs are made of a different (stronger) material than the Monroe ones. If anyone reading this has access to a table of preloads by material, it would be interesting to know what the correct preload is on a Grade 9.8 10mm stud.

I looked in Machinery's Handbook but couldn't find a table for metric preload values. All we know for sure is that the Monroe studs are 10mm Class 9.8 so if you can find the appropriate preload for that that'd be great.
