3rd Generation Mileage Issues for Camry

Hey guys i need your help!
I have a 94' Camry XLE V6 and ive noticed ive been getting terrible mileage (16.6666666667 mpg) and i have a check engine light showing on my dashboard. I was wondering is it really the O2 sensor which is causing the terrible mileage or something else? When the car is started, it is idling at a high RPM over 1.5k-2k but dies down after a while. Another bad thing about my car is that it has terrible tires with bare tread. Could this be another cause?

I would like to get yalls input! If it is the O2 Sensor does anyone know where i could get one for cheap. I keep changing my O2 Sensors like a billion times but the check engine light and mileage are the same all around. i dont wanna waste my money on something that does work! I already changed bank 1 sensor

How Much mileage Highway/ City am i supposed to be getting?

When I had my '94 XLE V6 the worst I ever got was 16.5mpg, but that was when I switched to 93 octane fuel. Besides that time, the worst I got was around 18mpg, averaged 19-21 50/50.

The O2 sensor could make a big difference, but if you only have one gone then it shouldnt make a huge difference since you have 2 more, unless all 3 need replacing.

Have the trouble codes read out. AutoZone will do this for free. Then go from here.

Yup. Our cars are OBDII, so you can go to AutoZone and they can pull the code for you. It will tell you nearly exactly what's giving you poor gas mileage.

When you tell them you have a '94 Camry they will say they cant do it, only '96 or newer cars. Tell them that yours is OBDII and their scanning tool will work.
