3rd Generation '94 Camry V6 Powersteering Leak: root cause and repair

Looking for the root cause of my Powersteering leak on my '94 Camry V6, Brother has same leak on '94 Lexus ES300 dripping from the same area. Do not want to spend thousands of dollars ending up to be a hose. Tried SteerX helped a little but not totally. Thanks for your help... Jim

First thing would be to power clean all areas where oil is now. Then check daily to see where oil is coming from. Could be cracked reservoir, pump suction line, pressure line, pulley shaft seal, steering rack.

It may be the rack itself. That is common on Avalons and Camries from the mid 90s and sadly most cases I know of it was the rack itself.

could also be the pump and its seals or just your high pressure line

Over the years and across many brands and models, it has been my observation that the pressure hose near either fitting is the most common cause. That being said, and as others have noted, there is no substitute for thoroughly cleaning/degreasing the area and making a careful visual observation.

I had the same problem and it turned out to be the rack itself. Pain in the butt it was to change.
