Manual Window Question

Hi,

I seem to have a problem with the front windows on my car. If the window is all the way up, with the door closed one can still slide the window down from the outside.

Its a manual window, so the winder still turns on the inside when you do this. I'm quite sure its not supposed to work this way.

I had the same problem. The window would stay up but just touch it and it would just drop about 2 inches. It sounds like the gears inside the winder mechanism are worn. It is the most common problem in toyota's and the only way is to replace the whole regulator system. I paid $AU 60 from a wrecker but it was virtually brand new (got lucky ). Installing it is just a matter of removing door cover and then like 6 bolts. Took me about 20 minutes to replace.

In my case you have to put a little effort into bringing it down, but i'm sure here in SA a would thief is gonna use more than a little force to get in.

yeah i think its a common prob on old cars. I noticed my brother 1991 honda civic, power window, and the window can slide down abit. I have a 98 camry, manual windows, they're still in good condition cant slide them down from outside or inside

but yeah as Dijalnar said, replace the window regulator and should fix the problem
