Making headlight harness for high watt bulbs - DIODE?

Ive been looking at all sorts of diagrams on how people made their harnesses (mainly for HIDs) and most of the have a diode wired in somewhere.

Do I need to have a diode? Im thinking I dont and that people only need them when they have H4 bulbs so they can have low and high beam on at the same time.

The harness Im making will be for low and high beam, each controlled by a separate relay. Will be mainly used for high wattage bulbs. But even if i decide to use the harness to run HIDs, would I need a diode then to be able to use high and lows?

unless you are going to go with hid's latter on, you don't really need to worry about a diode. HID harness need diodes to prevent the ballast from being flashed on and off. If you're using a normal bulb, even if it's a higher wattage bulb, its still okay to flash on and off.

i figured it out, you only need the diode to be able to use your highbeams while the hids are on, mainly with an h4 socket. but since the high and low beams are separate and im using two relays anyway, there is no need for one, even when i do decide to use HIDs

thanks though!
