So as many of you know ill be getting a CF trunk in the next week or so. I have 2 12's in the back that are pretty stout. I want to upgrade those to even louder subs. Now the Question is how is the trunk going to hold up to the abuse of subs, anybody know? Since boxes for subs are made of fiberglass and the trunk skin is fiberglass shouldnt it hold up fine?

not to worry. I know a bunch of guy who runs CF trunk with subs and have zero problems. But why spend all that money on a weight saving lid only to replace it with a heavy sound system? just bustin ya balls. depending on how the lid is made it might rattle tho.

Do what I did, use weatherstripping for auto from Home Depot. It completely traps all of the sound in from the subs and prevents any rattling since the weatherstripping is soft and absorbs the shock

haha sorry I wasnt more help george, I have no experience with subs. The trunk seems pretty tough to me, I would imagine you would be okay. I would worry more about theft of the subs with a cf trunk though than a metal one...

really? didnt really think of that, i thought it would be the same, since they both have the locks ya know. That and the theft of the trunk itself, but shit who wants a carbon trunk for a camry, it would be different if i had a honda or something .

I wasnt really thinking about the trunk itself being stolen, but someone chopping a hole in it with an ax... okay I have no clue what I was thinking, carry on george...

You can dynomat, but I think that's is (to me) going to the extreme and isn't that necessary. From people I have talked to, they said that it they were to really keep all of the sound, they would have to dynomat the whole entire car. Their reaction was priceless when I said that they'd have to dynomat the windows lol
Sry no pics. What I did was remove the Toyota weatherstrip lining from the trunk and laid down the weatherstripping in place of it. It's simple and works damn good.
With the Toyota lining, I couldn't even close my trunk too well (and keep it close to flush) and it was a bit too thick anyway
