4th Generation Sqweeking Noise

I have a 99 V6 Camry. When I start the car in the morning, there is a sharp pitched sqweeking noise which dies down later after the car runs for a while. Is it something to worry about. The noise is more evident when the car is standing.

usually squeaking from the engine bay comes from a part that isnt well-oiled, which means its breaking down ...

have no fear, its probably not the engine ... but it probably does need some attention

one of the guys on the forums should be able to direct you where to look, but since i dont know what the engine bay of a 99 V6 looks like, ill let them do the talking

squeaking noise might also be from one of the belts in your engine bay.

I have to agree with keithy. A high pitched squeaking upon startup, that goes away in a minute or 2 is usually from a loose belt. As the loose belt is running over the pulleys, it heats up and expands and the slipping stops. When the engine is cold, check the tension on the belts and adjust as necessary.

Yeah probably the belt, also if it is humid where you live the moisture gets on the belt in the morning and can make it squeak or slip too.
