Hey guys.... Just wanted to get some help on my ride.
I just put in Megan Racing springs with Tokico Shocks. I initally tried to do them myself... but it turns out, theres a bolt that you have to hold using a 5mm allen wrench, and taking off a 14mm bolt. I ended up just stripping the inside of the bolt.
It turns out it's a common problem, as some of you may already know. So I called my mechanic, he knew exactly what I was talking about. He said he'll have to cut off the bolts and replace the linkages.
$400 later.... they are in... He rust proofed them too. My mechanic told me that the rear spring was TOO SHORT and didn't fit between the top mount and the shock..... so what he did was he said he strapped the spring to the shock to keep it from being dislodged over bumps. I didn't really understand what he was talking about... I haven't had time to check out what hes done yet.
So here are some before and after pictures....

AFTER:
It looks like the front did nothing.... and in my opinion looks really bad....
My guess is because it's a 4cyl.. and maybe the springs were made for a 6cyl I Don't know :S
I dunno guys.... The reason I went with springs/shocks instead of coilovers is because it sounds like the lifespan of K-sports a about a year.... and Tein's only have warranty in the USA, not Canada...
I'm trying to weigh my options.. I'm definetly not going to go for coilovers since it's just to expensive to change my mind now. I went with Megan since they had the highest rated drop.. (2" front/ 1.75-2 rear)
I don't mind getting a second set of springs and using one brand in the front and another in the rear or something like that. I was initally thinking about Tein SSs but I wanted a bigger drop in the rear.
Honestly, I'm also thinking about cutting the front springs.... if I do go that route.. I'll cut of 1/4 or an 1/8 of a coil at a time and give it a week to settle after ever cut... I'll probably do an integration along the height of spring as well to make sure I don't make the spring rate skyrocket. If I ruin these springs I'm not too worried at all since I'm already thinking about buying new ones.
Tell me what you guys think please...
On a side note... I'm only lowering for aesthetics. I rarely even go over the speed limit let alone race, which is why I'm considering cutting.

It lasts a year if you drive in bad roads and gets cold half the time, the harsh conditions will blow it in about a year or two, it really is a good idea to swap out the coilovers when it becomes winter. Don't disregard the coilovers because of just that, nothing is guranteed but where I live at all my honda buddies blew their "real coilovers" in about a year and half and it's pothole city. Some of them drive like maniacs but some of them drive ok, so it depends on your luck.
Anyways you should swap out those springs and get tried and true springs like eibach, h&r, or tein. Stay away from cut springs.

some douchebag hit and ran in a parking lot..... I have a Viper 7900VX or something like that... the reception BLOWSSS and I my reciever only started beeping when I was outside the restaurant which is pretty useless.
Ignore the blue corner too ahahhaahah.. I finished my summer work term earlier, and all my friends still had exams soooo yah....... I was pretty bored ahahahah
The eyebrows look sweet imo though
Apparently they discontinued making clear corners for Gen 4... Or at least I can't find any... BTW if you know where I can get clear corners let me know!!!
i would go ahead and replace the springs. They will neve rget better. Just get one of the higher quality ones like the eibachs or teins. Buy the best, cry once.

looks nice, really like thoes rims i had the same problem with my springs being short untill they were compressed by the weight of the car, but ive never had a problem.
that drop is pretty unappealing....who says coilovers last only a year??? are you going 50mph over speed bumps or something??? you must be outta your mind

Thats good to hear... cause I really like the look of the rear hahahah I don't want to change it.. It's a pretty soft ride in my opinion too even though it looks like it's going to bottom out... I'm just not going to fit 3 people in the back ever

I dunno.. when I was searching up coilover setups, I was looking at K sport because they had top mounts included with adjustable camber.
My friend told me he was looking up k-sports as well, but heard mixed reviews and blown shocks pretty quickly.
This is just what I pulled up quickly just now... I read other forums when I was researching last year with the rear shocks especially, blowing after around a year of use. Edmonton is retarded for potholes... winter hits our roads hard.
Maybe teins are a little better... I don't know... like I said. Tein only gives warranty in the States, and I don't think they are easy to rebuild from Canada.
I like the idea of shocks/springs combo better because replacement is so much cheaper and easier. If I do blow a shock... Tokiko sells them indiviually or in pairs... so instead of having to buy another whole coilover kit, I can just buy specific shocks. $100 is much less then $1000. And honestly, with our roads, I'm expecting to blow my shocks.
I think I'm going to order a set of Tein S Techs soon but only replace the fronts.
These are at least rated for the 4 cyl... so they say
I don't recommend Megan Springs unless you have a v6 or it will look like my car lol
