Hello, I kinda need someone to do some work for me..
I came into some money and am thinking about getting HIDs for my gen3.
Can someone basically tell me exactly what I need to get, I want a bulb that isnt too blue.
What kit should I get with what bulb? and where?
Also, I have Stock headlights, Do I need to replace my headlights? or should I just take them out and clean them real good and sand down the top to smooth it out?
Whoever can help me out, I would GREATLY appreciate it!
I would get a set of depo clears to retro. you'll lose output if you use the stock housings. have a look on hidplanet. they have tons of info that can help. I'd be willing to do a retro on a gen 3 for you if you want. It would be my second retro, and it would definitly look better then my current one. pm me if you're interested.
definatly go depo clear headlights. i personally would recommend do the projector retro to take full advantage of the work. try to get a plug and play OEM system(compatable with 2006 harness). i got one from redphenoix for a BMW (E43?), though im rockin it rith now with out the projecors it was easy as pie to do.

yup yup, retro's are expensive, but they get cheaper with each retro you do. The retro on my camry actually cost around $800, but mostly because I needed to buy a dremal and soldering iron and heat gun and because of other mistakes. My accord retro only cost like $500
Or if your short on cash just clear them your self. all you need is some sandpaper, bucket, water and some plastic polish.
The grits you need I guess would be around 200, 300, 400, 600, 800, 1000, maybe 1200

no no no....what ever you do, don't get a pnp conversion kit. I was in the same position as you last year. Had a few extra hundred and wanted to get hid's. after reading up on it, and seeing all the bad results, I decided I had to do a retro. If I were you, I would just start off by buying the clear headlights. Then as you find more parts (projectors/ballast) buy them.
hey cdtran, if I supply you with new Depo's and the HID kit that people recommend, could i ship to you and you send me the completed headlights?
im fully capable of doing the job myself, im just real lost when it comes to buying the right HID kit and the extra components such as, lens holders and little stuff to prevent light leakage
it would be helpful to have a clear understanding of how it all goes together for a gen 3 headlight
ive already looked at HIDplanet and read a whole bunch of shit which was quite helpful, but maybe you have some helpful tips
yea sure. I'm more then willing to help out now that it's summer. The first thing you should know is that you don't want to buy a kit. You want to buy oem hid components, because those will be the most reliable. The depo headlight housings will cost you around 150ish depending on which ebay sell you go too, but for other hid components, the members on hidplanet are generally going to give you a slightly better deal, and those components will endup costing around 400ish depending on which projectors you get and which ballast.
But yea, now that its summer, I'm more then willing to work on any gen 3 retro. Just pm me. btw, I might be headed up to vancouver sometime in july, so if it works out, you might save a lot on shipping.
i realized i didnt have that much money to blow, id rather get rid of this small rust spot.. i just sanded down my headlights and bought the high model silverstars (i cant remember the name) and I gotta say they look as good as I anticipaed, sorry to let anyone down
