Sorry guys, I tried searching for the HID thread, but I couldn't find it or I missed it. Anyway, my friend can get me a good deal for some McCullouch HID's, and I wanted to see if some of you with the Gen4's can tell me your experiences with the HIDs. I'm not gonna do a retrofit or put projectors on them, it costs too much, but I'm currently deciding between 10k or 12k. I know a few of you guys posted pictures a while ago, if you can link me to it, or post em on here, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.
you will just have glare and try getting phillips brand HID's they are so much better than mccullouch. pricy but worth it try xenondepot.com

I just won't respond to the thread, because if you really think that anything above 6k is good...you're wrong. Also if you are going to throw in a pnp kit thats above 6k, it'll be horiable for anyone else on the road.

I used to have HID without retrofitting my headlights. It was a total wreckship! blinded oncoming traffic, I was using 2 different bulbs, 6500K n 10,000K.
Don't waste money on buying HID if you're not going to retrofit your headlights
You can't see shit with those temps...the highest I'd go is 6k. Usually 4300K is the sweet spot for HIDs with optimum output.
But yea, leasaunce is right...don't even think of using HIDs without projectors. Everyone on the road will hate you for that. Be a good citizen and don't blind other drivers.
thanks for your suggestions guys. I guess if I don't have the money for retrofitting and stuff I shouldn't be investing in HID's at all. thanks again guys!!
my friends 2000 acura TL has xenons and it doesnt have projectors i guess the dealership modified the cutoff
because my camry has the cutoff angled up to the side(which im sure all gen 4 has that) will it still blind people....cant you also modify the headlight to make it point down more

Some cars have reflector based HID systems. The pre 04 tl's, newer siennas, pre '07 escalades, and is300 are reflector based HID systems, to name a few. these systems are still specifically designed for hids. Even if you aim your headlights all the way down, you'll still have glare. There's no way to get around it with a pnp kit, and if you aim your headlights all the way down, whats the point? you'll only light up your foreground, which would be pointless for driving.
4300k - 6000k is normal if you want 10,000k or 12,000k your just looking for trouble on the streets. Without projectors theres no point of getting HID, only difference you prbably notice afterwards is the color and brightness of the light, if you want a wider, longer beam you need projectors.
just like everyone else said. Having HID's without retrofiting is a total waste. You'll blind all in coming traffic. EVEN if you tilt down the headlights it's still worthless as now the light is facing the ground and the cops will look at your car with more caution to the point that he will pull you over. 10k and 12k is way to legal if your driving local especially when your not even putting projectors. 10k and 12k is made for show cars for events it will never really go on the streets. Your best bet is to go 6000k as its white with a bit of blue and having no projectors is in the ok zone but still at mid risk of getting pulled over.
