Angry stuck with p0441 p0446 codes (now with picture)

Hi All - Signed up today to this forum. I am noob in need of help for these darn codes. Thanks for any help

On my girlfriend's 1998 Toyota Camry 4Cyl, she is getting the dreaded p0441 and p0446 vapor pressure codes . I reset the codes and checked gas cap and it came back in less than a week. Other threads mentioned the VSV. Where exactly is the VSV part located and what is the R&R procedure?

Thanks

Just to be a bit more specific, this is exactly what the codes mean:

P0441 Evaporative Emission Control System Incorrect Purge Flow

P0446 Evaporative Emission Control System Vent Control Circuit Malfunction

Unfortunetly I can't help you about your other problem. But hey, at least I bumped your thread :P

check vacuum lines and charcoal canister. the vsv is attached to the cooling system up front easy to find if you follow vacuum lines around. google a pic of it and it would be easy to find.

Is this what the VSV looks like?

I am very confused on where its located. I have heard its in the engine and also heard its near the TB, and then near the Charcoal caniser and my local dealer says its on top of the gas tank

Go underneath the car, find the charcoal canister, pretty close to where your muffler is, more to the center of the car. you will be able to see the vsv pretty clear.

How in the heck do you remove the VSV near the tank? Does the canister need to be unbolted and removed?

it's a tough job. On ine, it wa pretty much rusted into the metal bracket and so, there is just no way I can remove the little bolt. I just zip tied the vsv to the bracket. But I was being extra careful to use like 3 zip ties to tie it down.

thank u for your reply. Normally, does the entire canister need to be removed to replace the VSV?

no, just the VSV. Just unplug the old one and replace it with new. But make sure you know which tube goes to which fitting. Good luck.
