Wideband 02 ????

Hey guys,


I was randomly looking at O2 sensors at work the other day at Advance Auto parts and it showed thay we carried an wideband o2 sensor for the 99 toyota camry upstream,
If I installed it would the ecu be able to understand it?

also


Would I be able to run an air - fuel gauage off of it?

no

to make a wideband sensor "work" (to get readable signals) you will need a converter (computer for it). A lot of companies used to make separate controller units for sensors which you can then attach a standalone to as well as a gauge, but nowadays, most come as one compact unit within the gauge (i.e. aem 6-in-1 uego)

Since I won't be doing any tuning my self is a wideband needed or would a narrow band be oh k?

if you don't need tuning yourself, then you really don't need a wideband.....


but if you're planning on going FI, then it's still a good idea to keep an eye on things though....

so your sensor is wired to the ecu? I could have sworn the cali version uses a wideband but not 100 percent sure!

if that is the case, then the sensor would be wired to the ecu and the sensor would be factory configured to match what the ecu needs- not much help for an aftermarket application though unless you can find a converter/gauge that was specifically designed for your car
