Question Figure This One Out!!!

I have 99 Camry 4cyl 2.2 auto with 190K...awesome car! One day got in started fine and no power steering, no power brakes and you could shift in reverse but wouldn't engage but car WAS ON AND IDLING! Turned off tried again but same thing. Sat there for about 10 min and started again and everything perfect again!!! Strange or what...any ideas or help???

The only thing that may be common is the auxillary serpentine belt and tensioner somehow. I would check the alternator output to make sure you are getting 13.5V minimum. Was the engine idling normally when this occurred or just barely idling?

you gotta explain a bit further. it does not make any sense at all. i think youre missing something.

powersteering- fluid low?
power-assist brakes- vacuum pressure okay?

How do you know if your brakes were'nt working properly if you couldn't engage any gears to move it?

Brakes are fine, took off vacuum hose and checked! Power steering belt was checked and adjusted and never had any probs with tranny! I even took off serpentine belt and you still have power brakes and steering since it's all seperate componets! I know this is a strange one and it sounds like the car stalled which would make more sense!!! It happened to my wife and she swears the car was going and she turned off and tried again and still happened until third try, but I never seen it first hand yet! I'm hoping she is wrong and that it did stall????? I appreciate all ideas, many thanks!
