help!!! maf sensor problem???

ok we decided to put on a intake adapter with a filter and everything went good until we started the car . the car was running erratic in the beginning. it started and ran for a little bit then died out. we kept starting it and later on down the line it wouldn't want to start for us. we put everything back to stock then it did the same thing. im thinking its the maf sensor that went bad on us. we play with the connector going to the sensor while trying to start the car and it starts then we stop playing with it then it dies. so all in all thats the only thing we touched today so im thinking its that . how could it go bad just like that? did we screw something up? all suggestions is appreciated. thanks toyota gurus .

I've been having the same problem lately. Occasionally, I would mess with the connector enough, the MAF would work properly. Now, I'm ordering a new electrical connector to fix the problem. If your car is throwing a P0100 code and not a P0101 then the connector or wiring is usually at fault.

Before changing parts download the service manual at the link below, it has troubleshooting and testing methods.

Does the engine start and run when the gas pedal is pushed down. Might also check the IAC valve. Codes could still be present without a check engine light.

You may have missed a hose and created vaccum leak after the sensor. There should be no hole on the intake after the sensor.
