Need keyless remote for 96 Camry

Hello,

I just bought a 96 Camry with a 4 banger. It did not come with any of the keyless remotes, I found this one on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/KEYLE...31474533QQrdZ1 has anyone else used these off ebay? Do they work?

Also, are there any instructions on how to reprogram them? I saw there are instructions for Gen4 but not ours on this site.

Also, do we need the grey remotes or the black ones? Is there a number I should be looking for so I get the right remote?

that remote is for the rs3000 system. Yes, it is true that you can buy that and reprogramm it to your car. But I have a few tips and advice for you before you do.

The rs3000 comes with TWO different remotes that looks the same. Namely the black ones and grey ones. They both have the same fcc id #, which you think might be interchangeable. But unfortunately they are not interchangeable. Yes, I have tried them out.
To know which one works for you car, you have to locate your ecu unit and look at the color of your ecu unit. Then the remote should be of the same color.
you can find more information in the sticky section where I have summarized the procedure to program your remote. Good luck!

Got a question. Is having a keyless entry remote activates glass breakage sensor? and does this also activates the VIP alarm system? got recently vandalized and burglarized and deciding whether i should buy the keyless entry remote or an aftermarket alarm system.

answer to your question

1. NO. Having the keyless entry does not "automatically" activates the GBS or your alarm. You have to have the rs3000 alarm to have them work together. If you only have the keyless entry feature, then there will not be any GBS or alarm.

2. Aftermarket alarm will give you more features. Some are even better than the toyota alarms, just my personal opinion.

if you have the rs3000, and you did not disable the alarm, the GBS should also be enabled. You can adjust the sensitivity of the GBS though. As far as I know, the GBS is part of the alarm system and you cnanot just disable the GBS alone.
